Things You Shouldn’t Forget When Planning A Wedding

When you are planning your wedding, you will have a lot of things that you need to focus on. Do you have your dress? Have you chosen the guests that you will invite yet? Who will make your wedding cake? These are all questions that you need to ask yourself and often, it can be easy to forget about some of the smaller details that you haven’t even considered.

Many couples make the mistake of forgetting things like the transportation for their bridal party and the lighting for the big day. So, to help you avoid making these common mistakes, we’ve put together some of the things that you shouldn’t forget when planning your wedding. Read on to hear what these are.

Bad Weather Contingency Plans

If you are planning on having parts of your wedding take place outside, you are going to need to consider what the weather is going to be like. Even if you are planning your wedding in the summer and hoping for sunshine, there are always risks of showers coming your way at some point. So, when you are planning your wedding and the outside event, you need to make sure that you have a contingency plan in place.

Is there a room that you can take your guests to that will get them out of the rain? Could you hire a marquee that they can get under when the weather takes a turn? Having a stock of umbrellas can also be useful when it comes to creating a contingency plan.

Bridal Party Transportation

You may have planned some transport for the bride and the groom on the big day but what about the bridal party? Typically, the bridal party will get ready in the same place as the bride and groom, but they won’t come in the same car as there isn’t always space. If you haven’t arranged transport ahead of time, you might find that you need to arrange for a lift or a taxi to take them to the wedding venue.

The last thing you want to notice on the day is that you have forgotten to arrange transport for your bridal party so make sure to add this to your checklist.

Overtime for Vendors

Finding the right vendors for your wedding can be quite a difficult task. Not only do you need to make sure that you are choosing vendors with a good reputation and that offer the service that you require but you also need to make sure that they meet your budget. At House of Party Planning, you can find tons of great vendors that specialise in weddings and can help you to create your perfect day.

One thing that is often forgotten when booking vendors and allocating a budget is the overtime that might be required. If you are hiring a vendor on an hourly basis, you could find that you need them to stick around past the allocated time. This could be for a number of reasons such as late guests or issues that are beyond your control. So, when figuring out how much you can afford to spend, don’t forget to factor in the cost that overtime might bring.

Wedding Stationery For The Big Day

Everyone knows that you need to have wedding invitations made up to inform your guests of the details, but have you considered the additional stationery that you may require? This can include everything from save the date invitations to name tags for your guests at their table. Once you add up everything that you need, you may want to make some sacrifices but there are some things that you really do need.

For example, have you thought about creating a table plan that your guests can use to find their table? This is usually placed next to the door and it can be a great way of getting everyone to their seats on time. If you neglect to invest in a table plan or additional stationery, you may be faced with additional problems.

Food Allergies

When you are planning your wedding, you need to find the perfect menu that your guests will love. You might be tempted to choose something a bit unusual for your wedding, but you need to make sure that your guests will be happy to eat it. Usually, couples will ask their guests to choose which meal they would like when they RSVP to the wedding but there are other things to be considered.

Have you asked your guests if they have any food allergies? If you don’t do this, you could find that they are unable to eat the food that you provide for them on the day. Do you have any vegans coming along? Are any of your guests at risk of getting ill due to allergies? Do not forget this important question!

Food and Snacks

In addition to the food that you will need to provide for your guests at the wedding reception, you may want to think about some of the other food that you’ll need for the big day. For example, you will need to provide your bridal party with a breakfast and some refreshments on the morning of the wedding. Often, the main meal isn’t eaten until quite late in the day so you may be hungry throughout the ceremony and the speeches.

Think about everything from breakfast to snacks for your guests who will be at the ceremony and the reception. This way, no one will go hungry.

Get Planning

If you are hoping to have your wedding in the next year, you need to make sure that you are covering all of the important aspects of the planning process. Don’t forget the smaller details such as the table plan and the food that you’ll need outside of the main wedding meal. If you can remember to plan all of these things, you’ll find that your wedding goes off without a hitch.
